A simple yet elegant roast beef dish infused with rich umami flavors from Worcestershire sauce and butter, perfect for special occasions or comforting dinners.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 lbs beef roast (chuck, sirloin, or rib-eye)
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Pat the beef roast dry with paper towels and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the Worcestershire sauce and melted butter.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add oil, and sear the roast on all sides until browned (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  5. Place the seared roast in a baking dish and pour the Worcestershire-butter mixture over it.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and roast in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  7. Once done, remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice the roast against the grain and serve with pan drippings drizzled on top.

Notes

Let the roast come to room temperature for even cooking. Using a meat thermometer is recommended for perfect doneness.
