A flavorful and comforting dish featuring tender, shredded chicken cooked in a rich butter and seasoning blend, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • Pepperoncini peppers (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the crock pot in a single layer.
  2. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and onion soup mix evenly over the chicken to coat it well.
  3. Slice the butter into pieces and place them on top of the chicken. Add a few pepperoncini peppers around the chicken for added flavor.
  4. Cover the crock pot and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and shreds easily.
  5. Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken in the pot and mix it with the combined sauce for a creamy consistency.
  6. Enjoy your Mississippi Chicken over mashed potatoes or rice, or in a crusty sandwich.

Notes

For extra heat, adjust the number of pepperoncini peppers based on your taste. You can also use chicken thighs for more moisture.
