Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings is the ultimate comfort food combining tender chicken, hearty vegetables, and fluffy dumplings, all cooked to perfection in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can of refrigerated biscuit dough
  • Cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the broth and vegetables: In your crockpot, pour in the chicken broth and add the sliced carrots, celery, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  2. Add chicken and soup: Add the shredded chicken and cream of chicken soup to the crockpot. Mix well, ensuring the ingredients are well distributed.
  3. Set to cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. The longer it cooks, the more the flavors will develop.
  4. Prepare the dumplings: About 30 minutes before you’re ready to serve, cut the biscuit dough into quarters and gently add it to the crockpot, stirring carefully to incorporate them into the soup mixture.
  5. Finish with bacon (optional): If you like, sprinkle crumbled bacon on top about 10 minutes before serving for added texture and flavor.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Ladle the chicken and dumplings into bowls while hot. Enjoy the comforting flavors!

Notes

Check consistency and add more broth if the mixture is too thick. Avoid overcrowding dumplings for the best results.
